About the Author
Avrie Swan writes Christian historical fiction, usually with a touch of clean romance, ranging in time period from the 1870s to the 1960s and everything in between. Her stories usually focus on themes of faith, family, and growth. Though not afraid to tackle hard themes, she likes to focus on seeing the light in darkness and learning to grow through hardship. In everything, she tries to keep the Lord present in her work by incorporating Bible verses and Christian morals into her books.
Avrie began writing at the ripe age of seven. She loved reading as a kid and naturally wanted to give creating her own stories a try as soon as she got the confidence to do so. Her first few stories were short and fantastical, usually focusing on a small band of woodland animals. She’d print them off, staple them together, and send them off to her grandmother—to this day, her biggest supporter!
At fourteen, Avrie branched out to full-length novels when she first developed an interest in historical fiction. Though her initial attempts were imperfect, they gave her the confidence she needed to continue. Eventually, she wrote three full-length novels, one of which she is currently editing. Avrie is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). She received the Reader’s Choice award for a piece of flash fiction written for Spark Flash Fiction’s Winter 2024 edition.
When not working on her writing, Avrie is probably exploring Wisconsin with her family, seeing historical sights ranging from lighthouses on foggy Lake Michigan to Victorian era mansion. During the long cold winters, she like to curl up with a good book in her hand and her cat, Ivan, on her lap. Between pursuing her bachelor’s degree in history and working as a youth librarian, it can be difficult to balance writing with work and school—but Avrie can always find time to squeeze in a few paragraphs.
